2014 Robot Soccer Competitions

February 26, 2014 - Simulator competition I.

  • Full state is available to the controller
  • Each game will be 3 minutes long
  • email control file to beard@byu.edu before class
  • Round Robin tournament:
    • 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, 0 points for a loss.
  • Matches will proceed in the following order:
    1. Goal-e vs. Dreadnought
    2. Critical Path vs. R. Ronaldo
    3. Real Madrid vs. Goal-e
    4. Dreadnought vs. Critical Path
    5. R. Ronaldo vs. Real Madrid
    6. Goal-e vs. Critical Path

March 5, 2014 - Simulator competition II.

  • Robots receive simulated vision data
  • Each game will be 3 minutes long
  • Use simulator at simulink_simulator.zip

  • Matches will proceed in the following order:

March 12, 2014 - Skill Tournament.

  • Each robot will demonstrate the following skills:
    1. Spin in place.
    2. Go to center of field facing toward goal from arbitrary location and orientation.
    3. Move in a box with sides equal to 0.3 meters while facing the goal.
  • Each skill will be judged by panel of students (two from each team) on a scale of 1-5.
  • Teams will demonstrate skills in the following order:
    1. Dreadnought
    2. Goal-e
    3. Critical Path
    4. R. Ronaldo
    5. Real Madrid

March 19, 2014 - Play Tournament.

  • Each team will demonstrate the following plays:
    1. Score on an open goal. Ball placed arbitrarily on field.
    2. Defend goal. Ball will be shot with hockey stick.
  • Each play will be judged by panel of students (two from each team) on a scale of 1-5.
  • Teams will demonstrate skills in the following order:
    1. Critical Path
    2. R. Ronaldo
    3. Real Madrid
    4. Dreadnought
    5. Goal-e

March 26, 2014 - Practice Competition I.

  • One robot against one robot
  • Two two-minute periods. Teams switch sides in the second period.
  • Round Robin tournament:
    • 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, 0 points for a loss.
  • Matches will proceed in the following order:
    1. R. Ronaldo vs. Real Madrid
    2. Goal-e vs. Critical Path
    3. Dreadnought vs. R. Ronaldo

April 15, 2014 - Robot Soccer Final Competition @ ECE on Display

  • The competition will start at 1PM and conclude by 3PM.
  • The location will be in the garden court. You may set up and begin testing in the garden court at 8AM on April 15.
  • Each game will consist of two three-minute periods. Teams will switch sides after the first period.
  • The competition will be a double elimination tournament, with seeding determined by the results of the practice competition on April 9.
  • Ties will be decided by a sudden death overtime period. Sides of the field during the overtime period will be determined by coin toss.
